Car Rankings

DEMO SAMPLE — please read first. These numbers are made-up examples to show how the math works. They are not real SCCA results. Classes are estimates, not official rulings. No VINs, no plates — cars are shown by @handle only.

How it works, in 4 simple steps

  1. Level the times. Every time is PAX-adjusted, so different classes can be compared fairly.
  2. Measure the gap. For each event, how far behind the fastest PAX time was each car, in percent?
  3. Split car from driver. The same car with two drivers shows the driver gap directly. We repeat 'take the car out, take the driver out' until both stop moving. The car score left is the car with an average driver.
  4. Turn the gap into a grade. Score = 100 minus (gap % x 10). 0% behind = 100, 2% behind = 80, 6% behind = 40.
1. @acuraits — Integra Type S (B Street — estimate)
Score: 90 / 100 — car gap 1.00% behind, with an average driver
Events: 4 | Drivers: 2 | Confidence: Medium
Two drivers in the same car, so the driver gap is measured directly.
2. @teamfastlane_miata — Spec Miata (Spec Miata — estimate)
Score: 86 / 100 — car gap 1.42% behind, with an average driver
Events: 4 | Drivers: 1 | Confidence: Low
Only one driver so far, so car and driver cannot be separated yet.
3. @maya_types — Integra Type S (Street Touring Ultra — estimate)
Score: 81 / 100 — car gap 1.87% behind, with an average driver
Events: 4 | Drivers: 1 | Confidence: Low
Only one driver so far, so car and driver cannot be separated yet.
4. @jordan_integra — Integra (GS — estimate)
Score: 41 / 100 — car gap 5.91% behind, with an average driver
Events: 4 | Drivers: 1 | Confidence: Low
Only one driver so far, so car and driver cannot be separated yet.

Driver effects — the part we take OUT of the car score

Average driver = 0. Negative = faster than average.

Example: the same car with two drivers, about 1 second apart on a 60-second course, still gets one car score — the driver gap is shown separately, not hidden inside the car.
